With assistance from Rotary District 6460, our club successfully raised funds and secured matching grant support to provide age-appropriate books for every student at the Early Childhood & Family Center. This initiative aligns with Rotary’s commitment to improving literacy and supporting early education. Two sets of books were distributed during different months at the end of the 2023–2024 school year, ensuring that each child received multiple opportunities to engage with new reading material. Teachers at the center shared that the students were thrilled to take the books home, and the joy on their faces made the effort truly rewarding.
This project was made possible through the District 6460 Club Grants Program, which funds one-time community service projects that involve active participation from Rotarians [1]. These grants are designed to enhance local communities and improve lives, especially in areas where Rotary clubs are active. Our club’s literacy initiative met the program’s criteria by directly benefiting children in our community and aligning with Rotary International’s Areas of Focus. The grant helped us amplify the impact of our fundraising efforts, including creative events like our Adult Easter Egg Hunt, which brought the community together while supporting a meaningful cause.
We are continuing this literacy project through ongoing fundraising and community engagement. Events like the Adult Easter Egg Hunt not only raise funds but also increase awareness of our club’s mission and the broader goals of Rotary. By partnering with District 6460 and leveraging their support, we aim to expand our reach and provide even more resources to local children and families. Our club remains committed to service above self, and we look forward to building on the success of this initiative in the coming school year.
